Where the Wild Things Are…(Update!)

Here is the first poster for the adaptation of the childrens book of the same name.  The film is directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich and Adaptation.) and is set to be released on October 19th.

wildthingsposterFor those of you unamiliar with the story…Where the Wild Things Are is about a young boy named Max who is sent to his room without supper, after creating too much mischeif.  In his room, he creates a wild forest with his imagination and is eventually made Max King by the creatures who live in the forest…The Wild Things.

The film will have a mix of  live action, CGI, animatronics, and suitmation – which will be very interesting to see in motion on the big screen.  I’m looking forward to October.  Below are some stills and some test footage of the movie.  Enjoy!

I’m actually pretty excited for this, even though it seems like it could be too scary for kids and too bizarre for adults. It’s an art-house children’s movie. But nevertheless, you’ve got to check out this amazing spoof that plays on the fact that Arcade Fire’s music in the back does a lot to sell this trailer: http://theculturalintellect.com/2009/04/everyone-poops-the-movie/

  2. Haha, very awesome. Thanks for the link. I’m hoping for another great movie by Spike Jonze.
